Balat Sibuyas

Truth really sucks. But then again, everybody spews some racial slur one time or another. Tayo nga mismo mga Pinoy racist ei. May kanya-kanyang bigotry at biases ang Tagalog, Ilokano, Capampangan, Chabacano etc, so why not just take it with a grain of salt?

  3. Eto yung part ng comment that I left on SleepyScout’s blog.

To be honest, the line said something about a medical school in the Philippines. Not a specific Filipino and not specifically Filipino doctors. Unless medical schools have, unbeknownst to me, become their own race, then, I don’t consider it racist. Yes, I’m arguing semantics, but I think it goes to show how silly this issue is.

  4. No argument about that. Pero sabi nga, it was taken out of context, in the real sense. Ang point is, it was such a trivial thing. Shows make fun of everything like The Daily Show, South Park, kahit yung nabanggit ko before na Sic ‘O Clock News at Sundan ang Susunod Na Kabanta which time and time lambasted every known public official known to the Pinoy community. Blame is on us, not some show on TV.

  5. sure is a racial slur!

it beckons stern reaction in the medical profession, because soap like this doesn’t show the real scenario in the hospital… blame the incompetent script writer who doesn’t do research!

how much certification and training doctors, nurses and other health professionals have to go through? you can’t just fly o’er here to become one…di ako balat sibuyas, pero ito ay isang pangmamaliit sa ating mga Pilipino…aray ku, nars po ako!

  6. Ay, oo. My memories of Sic ‘O Clock News at Abangan are still intact. Di ko nag maintindihan yung hoopla about the alleged racial slur. We Filipinos tend to be sensitive on the wrong stuff. Nawawala yata sense of humor kapag tumatanda which is sad.

  7. so why not just take it with a grain of salt?

Or maybe try to retain a sense of humor? I don’t even watch that show, pero I laughed when I heard the line. Pero, honestly, I didn’t think the line was racist; it was just politically incorrect at the most.

Do you remember that show Abangan ang Susunod na Kabanata? (I don’t know how old you are, so I have ask.) That show was infinitely more politically incorrect and infinitely funnier than that little line on Desperate Housewives, and it was a show for Filipinos by Filipinos that skewered popular figures and events in the Philippines. O diba? Dapat wag asar talo!
